CHESPIRITO: SIN QUERER QUERIENDO
EPISODIC - HBO MAX - 2025
Chespirito: Sin querer queriendo tells the inspiring yet complex story of the man who transformed his imagination into a universal legacy of humor and tenderness.
From pre-production, we had the opportunity to develop the visual style of several scenes in which VFX played an essential role in telling the story. One is the bicycle ride, where newspapers swirl around the young Chespirito—an iconic scene set in 1960s Mexico City that foreshadows the young Bolaños’s future.

04 - VFX SEQUENCE
The production needed a dreamlike sequence in which newspapers lifted into the air as the characters passed, then followed their movement through the scene. Achieving this choreography with practical effects alone was not feasible entirely, so VFX brought the newspapers to life, adding a sense of magical realism.
Melocotón supported the sequence from preproduction through final compositing. The work included sequence planning, on-set VFX supervision, removal of modern elements and unwanted details, including cables, poles, and visible crew, newspaper sheet simulations, and compositing across the VFX shots.
Close collaboration with the director and art department was essential. Together, we defined which elements would be captured on set and which would be created or enhanced with VFX. This preparation gave the simulated newspapers a convincing connection to the live-action footage while allowing precise control over their movement.
Chespirito is an award-winning series with a broad audience across Latin America. Melocotón was commissioned by Perro Azul, the production company, which entrusted the team with developing and proposing creative solutions for this sequence.
